MUGGY

I love this word! I do not love what it means! I have had fun teaching it to many people over the last few weeks! UGH! Soooooo HUMID!

I know it is hot everywhere and I know some of my Canadian friends have complained about humidity - but - no - not like this! Our Canadian friends, Kathy and Al, experienced it first hand in Tokyo in July! After they left Hokkaido - it became much worse here as well! Not Tokyo HUMID - but pretty damn humid (or MUGGY).

And rain! I told people (my husband too) that I would lay in my bed (MAY/JUNE) and honestly feel like my building would float away! He gets it now!! Rain isn’t as angry as it is in Alberta - much more soothing - but also - constant! No worries of forest fires here!

This summer has been much worse than last! In some ways I am glad there was no student exchange - the weather in Kamikawa would not be welcoming to them! There have been clouds and rain in the forecast for the last 2 weeks straight and next week looks to be the same! This past week I worked at 2 outdoor English camps and for the most part we did okay! But still - it rained - just not at inopportune times (phew)!

So rain - 25-30 degrees Celsius and humidity well over 90%!

As much as I am averse to winter (strongly dislike Canadian winters) I am NOT loving summer at the moment. Always dripping (I mean dripping) with sweat and night time lows of 21!! UGH!

BRING ON FALL!!! It has always been my favourite season with the exception of holidays being over when I was a teacher. It is even more so now!

This is why we don’t travel in the summer while we live in Japan - everywhere is HOTTER than where we are - LOL! Except maybe Australia! It also works well because I can do some cool summer stuff with kiddos who are on summer vacation.

And beware - even you heat lovers would be overwhelmed in the concrete jungle that is Tokyo. Our friend Al kept saying how great he was when the rest of us were complaining… and then he got to Tokyo and Kyoto - LOL! It is even too hot for the heat lovers…

Grateful for our new little air conditioner and my portable desk fan for work! AND YES - I am counting the days - Bring on September!!!

PS

We are STILL waiting for our Japanese drivers licenses - our Canadian friends brought the missing paperwork and now we wait.... and wait...

PSS

Yup - still screwing up even though I am working on my Japanese!! In Canada I would not have the salt with the baking items... but here - that's where it was stored. 3/4 of a cup of salt instead of sugar - not the best!!!

PSSS

Said goodbye to the ALT from New Zealand, our friend, Scott!! He found an old RMH

t-shirt in his cupboard - he has no clue how long it has been there or which ALT it belonged to - LOL!! History....

PSSSS

More pics of our Japanese granddaughter - finally connected with "grandpa" Mark!!
