Mark has been in Japan just over a month and NO - we have not traveled much… YET!
My “summer vacation” was a busy one in Kamikawa, with many activities. It has been so much more rewarding than I anticipated! I envisioned sitting in front of a computer “killing time” until school started up again at the end of August. NOPE!! I am so grateful to have planned and done so many cool English activities in August!
But - that means not much travel time. Honestly… because of how hot it is in most of Japan? I am okay with it! Still I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was starting to get antsy!
We have done little getaways to Ashahikawa, Higashikawa (Koshino’s home), Otaru and Sapporo. Asahikawa only counts because we spent a couple of nights there - “geeking out” at the band festival!!
Yesterday I found out that in addition to an extra 5 days for “summer vacation”, there is also an extra 5 days for “winter vacation” YAY!!!! So I basically have 6 weeks of holidays and the Japanese national holidays each year - YAY!!
I have included some great snapshots of our mini getaways to date and I am excited to say that we have a few excursions to look forward to!!
Mid September - 3 nights - Lake Toya, Japan
End of October - 10 days - Osaka - Hiroshima - Kyoto
Christmas?? 3-5 days TBD but I am really angling for Hakodate!!
February - 3 weeks - who knows?!
Enjoy the photo dump!
