OISHI

I have been in Japan almost 2 weeks… and any of the good Japanese food I have had has come from other people. There is a new hot dog restaurant in Kamikawa and I went for lunch there last week… it was delicious! The wiener was a weird colour, and I am not brave - I closed my eyes and took a bite - so good!

At the Welcome Dinner for our department at Town Hall, we went to Akashi. I have been there before - every time I visited Kamikawa. The food was amazing! I cannot believe that I didn’t take any photos! Sashimi, Sushi, Tempura, Salads… and oysters! I tried many new things for the first time - but not the oysters. I told people in my department to save the food challenges for Mark-san! Soon he will hear… “challenge Mark-san!” He is much braver than me!

I have cooked rice in my rice cooker now that Nicky has taught me… I have marinated chicken with things from my fridge that I am not 100% sure what they are? Soy Sauce and oil and some sugar (I think). I have made lots of eggs…

Nicky-san made me marinated spareribs that I cooked last night, and she has taught me how to make Ramen (not the kind in the photo btw). I will do that tomorrow.

She has very graciously offered to teach some Japanese cooking - I told her she should teach Mark!

I also bought lunch one day at Seiko Mart (convenience store) Very delicious!

I am traveling with Nicky during Golden Week, and I promise to take photos of what we eat!
