I know… 40+ with the wind chill in Rocky Mountain House… snow and freezing rain ruining Christmas for so many in Canada - but - the snow in Kamikawa is other worldly!! I had such a cavalier attitude when posting earlier that Kamiakwa gets 7 times the snow as RMH -...” isn’t that amazing”, I wrote.
Well now, that snow is here - and it is CRAZY!!!! The good part is that it is NOT cold here compared to a normal Canadian winter in the prairies. -8 on one day, otherwise zero (ish) on most days. But - the snow!!!
It has snowed almost every day since the beginning of December. In the past 3 days we have had over 3 feet of snow! Mark shovels 3 or 4 times a day and our car has to be cleared off at least 4 times a day!! Trains have not run between Kamikawa and Asahikawa/Sapporo for the last few days either.
What I like about it is how peaceful it is… it is not freezing cold… people take it in stride… and it is so quiet.
Some pics for you to enjoy!! And those dudes shovelling in the parking lot? Those are high school teachers!
